Phil's Bar B-Q Building is For Sale

Eureka-Wildwood Patch readers asked in December what was happening with this iconic restaurant in Eureka. A new sign seems to indicate a final answer.

The building that houses a restaurant that has been in business since the 1940s in Eureka is now for sale. Phil's Bar B-Q was known for serving unique, homemade flavors and recipes, which are done on an open pit and "smoked low and slow."

In December, Eureka-Wildwood Patch readers noticed the operation was closed, and began to ask why.

One reader, Steve, commented that Phil's "always had the best fried chicken in town and that he will miss it."

I MISS PHIL'S!!!!!!!!

They had the best prices for the best biscuits and gravy and home fries anywhere. The service was always personal, you just had to understand some of the staff had special needs. I am SO SORRY they aren't open. I just spent twice as much money and enjoyed it 1/2 as much today at another restaurant outside of Eureka, since there's no longer a good option for breakfast in Eureka
