New Business Opening in Eureka
Fastenal keys in on local, fast access to industrial and construction supplies and products.
No doubt, the signature 'white-blue-and black' pickup trucks that designate the company Fastenal have been noticed in West St. Louis County before, but now more of them are about to seen in Eureka.
Fastenal managers just started setting up shop at 1745 W. Fifth St., in the building immediately west of Lion's Choice restaurant. Previously, the location housed B&B Game Shop, which moved to Hilltop Village Center.
The company sells industrial and construction supplies, ranging from basic items, such as nuts and bolts, to office furniture to welding equipment.
Fastenal District Manager Michael Herrell said this marks the company's 17th store in the St. Louis metropolitan area, including one in Washington and one in Fenton. The new store marks a middle ground between those two, he said.
A lot of industry in the area warrants a store in Eureka, said Herrell.
"You have Six Flags," he said. "That's obviously a niche for us."
The target date for the store's opening is Dec. 6, Herrell said. The interior will cover 3,200 square feet and have about $100,000 in inventory. Three employees will work at the store to start, said Herrell.
The store will be managed by local resident Erik Green.
The company, based out of Winona, MN, has stores in a number of countries, such as Malaysia, Herrell said, but its core business is in the United States, where it has more than 2,500 stores. This year the company is expected to do a little more than $2 billion in sales, he said.
