It's Time to Winterize Vehicles

Now that cold temperatures and winter precipitation hit Eureka and Wildwood, it's time to winterize all vehicles. Tips for avoiding accidents follow as well from Missouri Department of Transportation officials.

and residents today woke to a dusting of "first snow" on local highways...and a series of local accidents as a result:

  • Eastbound Interstate 44 before Lewis Road — involving all lanes.
  • Westbound Interstate 44 at Missouri Route 109, which closed all lanes.
  • Eastbound on Interstate 44 past Pacific.

In response to this morning's slick spots and black ice conditions along I-44, highway officials encourage drivers not to tailgate, not to pass other cars or trucks and to know to steer into skids. At least five accidents occurred this morning along this major interstate.

A video from Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) managers reviews the most important things to remember while getting vehicles ready for winter. The video accompanies this article.
