Tuesday night, city council members authorized spending $115,000 to buy the property at 319 Grand in Glencoe. That parcel joins property already owned by the city.
Council members also heard preliminary results of a survey of trail users, asking what additions or improvements they’d like to see to the trail and the surrounding area. Wildwood Planning and Parks director Joe Vujnich said more than 200 people had responded. While results are still being tabulated, Vujnich said a large number of responses focused on “restrooms, water fountains and the parking lot.”
Although a new, half-mile section of the trail opened in June, the trailhead, Vujnich noted, has not been substantially changed since it opened in 2003. The parking lot is unpaved and only portable toilets are available.
A formal report on the survey will be completed later this summer.
