Homecoming Dresses are 'On The Rack' in Eureka

Looking for the perfect dress for Homecoming at Eureka High or Lafayette High schools? Try the variety of dresses, shoes and accessories available at Karen's Off The Rack in Eureka.

A hidden gem of special occasion dresses awaits in Eureka at Karen's Off The Rack at 107 E. Fifth. Many of the dress selections would be great for Homecoming or Prom. But customers need to hurry, because the store owner plans to close operations by the end of September.

Eureka native Betty Elder relocated the business to Eureka in December. Read related article: New Dress Shop Racks Up Options

But Elder told Patch her lease ends on Sept. 30, and she's decided it's time to retire. "There's a woman who is buying much of my inventory, and some of the items will go to online sales," she said.

In the mean time, Elder has a variety of colors and lengths of party dresses from which to choose. "Many of the dresses are medium length or T-length, and could be hemmed for a shorter look, if that's what is desired," she said.

The shop also offers sparkly shoes, purses, gloves and jewelry created by Bella Designs. Elder offers coupons for some merchandise.

The Homecoming Dance for Eureka High School students is Oct. 6.

In addition to bridal wear, Karen’s includes more than 300 special occasion fashions, ranging from girls’ communion and flower girl dresses to party wear, to mother of the bride dresses.
