Get Out: Things to Do June 9 - 12

Make sure to check out all the fun happenings around town this weekend, like an After Hours Networking, Starlight Concert Series, Model Aviation Air Show, Cooking With Lavender, Annual Chicken Dinner, and a Big Truck Day!

 
  • Model Aviation Air Show
    Where:
    SLRCFA Field; Saturday, June 11, and Sunday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Why Go:
    To see large model aircraft of all types including Turbine Jets that look and sound like the real thing, as well as beautiful scale aircraft of WWI, WWII, Civilian aircraft. There also will be 3D flying demonstrations, full scale flybys and photo ops in a real F-4 Fantom Fighter jet!
    Pricing:
    $5 per vehicle.
  • Down On The Farm: Cooking With Lavender
    Where:
    Winding Brook Estates; Saturday, June 11, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    Why Go:
    Discover how you can use varieties of lavender as a culinary herb in your own kitchen. You will tour the fields and taste the recipes demonstrated.

    $29.
  • Lewis Chapel Annual Chicken Dinner
    Where
    : Lewis Memorial Chapel; Saturday, June 11, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    Why Go:
    Take the family to this fun, annual chicken dinner with homemade sides and desserts.  Chicken served freshly fried and barbecued on the grounds!

    Varies per plate.
  • 4th Annual Big Truck Day to Benefit Operation Food
    Where:
    Kemp Auto Museum; Sunday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Why Go:
    This annual outdoor event provides families with opportunity to get up-close and personal with some of the area’s largest trucks, including trucks from the Missouri Department of Transportation, dump trucks, ambulances, excavators, hummers and more! Kids are encouraged to explore the vehicles, climb inside and take photos.

    Free.
