Fox Run did not make Golf Digest's ranking of the top 100 courses nationwide.
The St. Louis Business Journal noted the rankings are important to local course owners. The newspaper quoted Josh Riley, executive director of Gateway PGA, saying the rankings help draw players and "validate their facilities" to build membership at private clubs.
"It’s a huge deal if it's for a public course from a marketing standpoint," Riley told the Business Journal.
Six St. Louis area private golf clubs made the top 10 list in Missouri:
No. 2: Bellerive Country Club
No. 4: St. Louis Country Club in Ladue
No. 5: Old Warson Country Club in St. Louis.
No. 7: Tavern Creek course at The Country Club of St. Albans.
No. 8: Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka.
No. 9: Lewis & Clark course at The Country Club of St. Albans.
