Food Fight: Best West County Soup Spots?
We'd like your nominations for this edition of the West County Food Fight. First, we get your nominations. Later, we'll vote for the finalists.
Remember that old Campbell's commercial that used to declare, "Soup is good food"?
We subscribe to that adage, especially now that the temperatures have dropped and, as it turns out, we're right in the midst of National Soup Month.
So for this week's edition of Food Fight, we want your nominations for the best places to get a piping bowl of soup in West County.
Yep, it's the West County Food Fight, where we'll look for your help to highlight the best places in the area for pizza, barbecue, burgers and more. Here's how it works:
- Each week, we'll ask a question about your favorites.
- We invite you to post your nominations in the comments below.
- We hope you'll also spread the word about this every week to your friends on Facebook or Twitter and get them involved.
- Submit comments until 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Then:
- We'll take the top three or four nominees and post an article first thing Thursday morning.
- That article will include a poll highlighting the top nominees.
- After the poll starts on Thursday, you'll be able to vote till Friday at 5 p.m.
- On Saturday, we announce the winner.
So whether it's creamy, brothy, chunky or smooth, what are your nominations? Who has the best soup in West County?
So show your hometown pride and pick a place near you. Boast about that small family restaurant or other great eatery in your neighborhood.
And, if you are pulling for a certain restaurant, share this column on your personal Facebook page and Twitter feed and ask your followers to vote.
This column is all about you—your ideas, your feedback and your voice—so we hope you will chime in and check back.

I really enjoy the soup at my office away from the office, the St. Louis Bread Co. in Eureka. My favorite is the broccoli cheddar.

My husband likes Applebee's corn chowder. I make soup often. I just made an industrial size pot of minestrone. Put in a dollop of pesto sauce...the best.

Mary is right. Great soup at Michelle's. It's also a great place to meet with others.

My vote goes to Einstein's Bagels. I love their broccoli cheddar soup. It is alot cheesier and chunkier with more broccoli than Panera's. I also like their chicken noodle soup. There are many Einstein's in West County. I've been to the ones in Des Peres and Chesterfield.

My vote is for PMBBQ in Chesterfield Valley. You would not think of them for soups but they have great homemade soups. Their smoked chicken gumbo is fantastic along with the smoked chicken tortilla.

The Best soup selection is probably in Brentwood at Applegates. They have the best Lobster Bisque on Mondays and Fridays and about 9 other options throughout the week.

Letty Lou's Cafe in Wildwood has the best soups around. Chicken and Dumplings Soup was just like Grandma used to make, absolutely delicious! I have also tried the Yukon Gold Potato Soup - yummy & the Tomato Gouda Bisque - outstanding!

It's at Clayton & Strecker attached to Elegant Child Learning Center. My friend ate there this afternoon and they had homemade split pea & ham as the lunch special. She said it was really good.
