Eureka 'Goes to Dogs' for Mardi Growl

PHOTO GALLERY: Dog owners love to go places with their dogs, and Sunday's festivities attracted several hundred registrants and people.

A total of 241 registrants competed in the second annual Mardi Growl dog parade held Sunday in Eureka. The youngest puppy this editor could find there was 10 weeks old. If anyone knows of a younger puppy who attended, please remark in the comments section. With so many great dog shots, it was difficult to select one to feature here in the Patch online template. Please click through them all, and add your own shots.

To see one of the most interesting "presentations" of a contestant for the parade, click here for a Patch article published Sunday evening. A Patch reader since loaded a photo of "BatDog," who also attended the event.

For a look at the contest's winners, judges and Mayor Kevin Coffey and his dog, click here for a Patch article published this morning.

Please return for a photo gallery that shares the businesses and groups that were exhibiting at the event.

Please load and add photos here that you took at the event, too. The more fun pet photos, the better! Tell us in the comments.

Awww! Those dogs were the cutest! My favorite was the motorcycle Yorkie in the backpack!

@Jean Hauser, good to know. I did pet those puppies' heads but was in a hurry before the parade started and didn't get details about them. They were sleepy during it all. Thanks for updating everyone; that's pretty young.

They said they got them at 7 weeks. So sweet! Nothing better than puppy breath, or baby breath!! :-)

Another funny thing that kept happening was needing to clean my camera lens because dogs kept licking and kissing it when I bent down to get their photo! That's a unique job hazard. LOL.
