Eureka Driver Injured on I-44, Other Driver Left Scene
A motorist who prompted a Eureka man to slow down on the southbound ramp of Interstate 270 to westbound Interstate 44 then left the scene of the accident.

A 22-year-old Eureka resident, Ryan Hinterleitner, was southbound on the Interstate 270 ramp heading toward westbound Interstate 44 Saturday morning when he told authorities he slowed down due to the vehicle ahead of him stopping. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, Hinterleitner's 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe then began to slide on the wet roadway.
Hinterleitner's sports utility vehicle (SUV) slid into the rear of the vehicle in front of him at 8:24 a.m. Saturday. The unknown driver of the other vehicle quickly left the scene of the accident.
Hinterleitner was taken to St. Clare Health Center by a Fenton Fire Protection District emergency crew for what what was deemed minor injuries.
The SUV received extensive damage, and was towed from the incident.
