Dry Cleaner in Wildwood is also Recycling Leader

Business Spotlight: Customers get environmentally friendly approach at Lapels Dry Cleaning in Wildwood. The store's hanger recycling program may come in handy with the change of seasons and cleaning out closets.

With Wildwood's emphasis on preserving natural settings, trees and wildlife, Lapels Dry Cleaning seems to fit right in—given the company's accent on environmentally friendly practices and sustainability.

Owned by Brian and Christyn Bond, Lapels Dry Cleaning offers a full slate of services, including: same-day dry cleaning; shirt service; tailoring; shoe repair; wedding gown preservation; suede and leather processing; box storage; and fur storage.

Another element Wildwood residents appreciate about this store is the dry cleaner's hanger recycling program. Used steel hangers are collected from customers and reused or sold as scrap metal, and those proceeds are then donated to worthy community groups, especially to education and fighting hunger.

Although the Wildwood store is the only one from the company in Missouri, Lapels Dry Cleaning stores also can be found in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Texas.

Lapels pioneered its eco-friendly dry cleaning experience over the past 10 years. Lapels is committed to using the most advanced environmental practices and technologies to clean clothes, even down to the recyclable garment bags, said Bond.

He said the store's environmentally-friendly cleaning process has no odor, breaks down naturally and is gentler on clothes.
