Donations Due for Toys For Tots

U.S. Marines Corps Reserve have been spearheading this annual holiday drive since 1947, and this year, Eureka businesses and residents continued to ensure that deserving but unfortunate children will receive toys for Christmas.

For anyone meaning to donate to the annual Toys For Tots drive in Eureka, this is the last week to do so locally. The primary goal of this program is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

Laurie Price, of The Wallach House, said she and Mary Wallach today started collecting the boxes from the other participating entities and businesses in Eureka, so donors now for the rest of this week should drop off toys at Wallach House. The antique store is located at 510 West Ave. in Eureka.

"We at The Wallach House would love to say a big thank you to all of the businesses that are participating in this year's toy drive for the Marine Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation," said Price. "Thank you for coming together as a community to help these boys and girls who would otherwise not have a Christmas present to open."

It is an honor to work with the Marines and with all who help make this drive a success, Price said.

In addition to The Wallach House, additional collection boxes in Eureka were hosted by the following entities:

Over the 62 years of Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million needy children.

Last year, The Wallach House also served as the pick-up point for the Eureka Toys For Tots collection. More than 700 toys were donated from Eureka last year.
