Eight sessions are planned on Wednesday nights, starting Feb. 27. The Citizens Police Academy is open to all St. Louis County residents and is free.
The St. Louis County Police Department, Fenton Precinct and West County Precinct officers will co-host a Citizen Police Academy at the West County Precinct, 232 Vance Road, Valley Park, next month. The classes will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on eight consecutive Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 27, with graduation on Apr. 17. The academy also will include two field trips during the eight-week period.
St. Louis County Police Department Chief of Police Timothy Fitch said in a news release, "The Citizens Police Academy creates the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the officers who serve and protect your community. Participants learn about what steps they can take to avoid becoming the victim of a crime and they get an inside look at how the county police department operates. Classes are instructed by law enforcement professionals in various fields."
The Citizens Police Academy is open to all St. Louis County residents and is free. Advanced registration is required. Seating is limited.
