Annual Fundraiser for Fallen Soldiers to be held in Eureka
Green Beret Benefit will be held Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and followed by a dance from 7 p.m. to midnight.
Donations for the sixth annual Green Beret Casualty Fund Benefit are being accepted. The benefit will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 27 at the Eureka Community Center, 333 Bald Hill Rd.
"Our previous benefits have been extremely successful, and we have been able to help several of our fallen Special Forces soldiers' families with financial assistance in their time of need," said Mary Jo Gullet, who represents the Ladies Auxiliary of the Martha Raye Chapter XXVII of the Special Forces Association.
The Martha Raye Chapter is a nonprofit organization established to help families of Special Forces soldiers who have been wounded in action defending the United States against terrorism and for freedom. The entity is based in Valley Park, MO.
This fund helps to financially support fallen soldiers until they are able to receive benefits from the military, said Gullet in a news release.
"Now, as in past years, we are asking your help in the form of a donation that can be used the day of the event. Donations received will be used in either the raffle, silent auction or for attendance prizes during the event. All cash donations will go directly to the casualty fund," said Michael Stocker, president of the Martha Raye chapter.
Organizers indicated all donations are tax deductible, and a tax identification number will be provided upon request.
A dance at Smokey's, 15 Hilltop Village Center in Eureka, will follow the fundraiser's day activities from 7 p.m. to midnight. Cost for the dance is $5 per person.
Martha Raye chapter monthly meetings typically are held at Cheers, which is located at 1 Beckett Plaza, Valley Park.
