Anniversary Park in Wildwood has long-standing—but originally planned to be temporary—portable toilets since the park opened in 2006. Now that's about to change.
The $90,000 project for building permanent restrooms at the 13-acre park at 16511 Clayton Road will go out for bids by the end of this month, said Joe Vujnich, Wildwood's director of planning and parks.
At the city council meeting held Monday, Vujnich said Planning and Zoning commissioners and the city's Architectural Review Board members approved the location and design of the proposed restrooms, which will provide separate facilities for men and women.
The facility will be 360 square feet, and does not require removing any existing trees, he said. It will incorporate stone, concrete blocks and wood.
Amenities at the park, which is located near the intersection of Strecker and Clayton Roads include:
- Drinking Fountain
- Multiple-Use Court with single basketball standard
- Park Benches
- Parking Lot
- Picnic Tables
The cost to reserve the Anniversary Park pavilion is $30 for Wildwood residents, and $50 for non-residents. The size of groups using the pavilion is limited to 30 people, due to parking availability. Reservations are only for the pavilion; the entire park cannot be reserved for a private party. The pavilion is equipped with electricity.
Park usage notes:
- Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on Wildwood property.
- Anniversary Park closes at dusk.
