Ann Wagner Responds to Democratic Candidate Recount Results
After a recount resolved for the 2nd Congressional District's Democratic ticketholder, Republican candidate Ann Wagner says her goal is the same.
After the Aug. 7 primary race left Glenn Koenen the Democratic choice for the 2nd Congressional District with a slim winning margin of votes, challenger Harold Whitfield requested a recount.
The recount was settled Sept. 12 and reaffirmed Koenen's win by 48 votes.
Ann Wagner, Republican candidate for the 2nd Congressional District and a Ballwin resident, had won the primary for the Republican ballot spot without any questions.
"We started this campaign nearly 17 months ago with a goal of returning strong, effective and conservative leadership to Congress," Wagner said in an email. "Regardless of who our political opponents are, that goal still remains." Wagner and Koenen are running for the 2nd Congressional seat for the Nov. 6 election.
"Over the next 55 days we will continue to talk directly to the voters and earn every vote," Wagner said.
