Rockwood Director Named to the Division for Early Childhood Executive Board
Michael Barla, director of early childhood education in the Rockwood School District, has been named member-at-large on the Montana-based Division for Early Childhood (DEC) executive board. Barla will represent individuals who provide early intervention and early childhood education services to children and families.
In his 13th year in this field, Barla said he is excited to serve as member-at-large. “Early childhood education plays a formative role in a child’s life, and I look forward to working with other professionals to ensure children and their families receive exceptional services,” said Barla in a Rockwood news release. “My focus will be on strengthening collaboration with the National Association for the Education of Young Children, advocating for and supporting men working in the field, and emphasizing the importance of anti-bias work in early childhood education.”
“To be chosen to serve as member-at-large for the DEC recognizes Dr. Barla’s expertise in this field," Rockwood Superintendent Bruce Borchers said.
“Rockwood has an outstanding early childhood education program and we are confident his experiences will have a positive impact on this organization and the work it does for children.”
DEC is a nonprofit organization that advocates for individuals who work with or on behalf of children with special needs, birth through age eight, and their families. The organization is one of 17 divisions of the Council for Exceptional Children, the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for students with disabilities and/or the gifted.
