Local Teen Classical Musician Takes the Stage
Sixteen-year-old Wildwood bassist Phillip Sansone, a student at The Fulton School at St. Albans just outside of Wildwood, is making music at the Innsbrook Institute Summer Music Academy and Festival this week.
Phillip and a group of select student musicians will be performing a Chamber Music Series on Saturday, June 16 at 1 p.m. at the Innsbrook Conference Center, just 30 minutes west of Chesterfield.
After a year of piano, Phillip began playing the double bass at age 13, taking lessons through the Community Music School of Webster University where he studied with Jeremy Pfeffer, William Bauer, and James McKay. He enjoys playing with his school music ensemble under the direction of Brian Elder. His private bass studies are with David DeRiso.
In 2011, Phillip performed with The Clayton Silver Strings at the Old Court House, and with the Community Music School’s String Orchestra, conducted by Mary Lou Gottman. He is a member of the 2011-2012 Young People’s Concert Orchestra, conducted by Patrick Jackson and performed with the 2012 Missouri All State Orchestra.
The Innsbrook Institute Summer Music Festival offers amazing performances each day throughout the week of June 9-June 16.
