Lafayette Student Earns State AP Scholar Award, One of Only Three in Missouri

A Lafayette High School student is one of only three Rockwood School District students to earn the State AP Scholar Award through the College Board. The three Rockwood students were only ones in Missouri to receive the award.

The recipients are:

  • Christina Schmidt, Lafayette High School
  • Rohit Gummi, Marquette High School
  • Nevatha Mathialagan, Marquette High School

According to a Rockwood news release, these students are among the 117 students nationwide to receive this award, which is based on their outstanding performance on the 2011 Advanced Placement exams. This award is granted to top students that score a 3 or higher on the greatest number of AP exams, and then the highest average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken.

“We are proud of these students and their teachers for their dedication and hard work in pursuing Advanced Placement coursework,” said Rockwood Superintendent Bruce Borchers. “Rockwood students took more than 3,500 AP exams in 2011 and earned a score of 3 or higher on nearly 85 percent of them. These results reflect the district's commitment to preparing students for success.”

The State AP Scholar Award is one of several given by the College Board recognizing high school students who have demonstrated college-level achievement throughout AP courses and exams.
