Early Childhood Students at Eureka Elementary Study Recycling

Rockwood School District's Early Childhood Education students in Lisa Feeney’s class at Eureka Elementary School are learning about the importance of recycling. Students are gaining an understanding of the “Three R’s” (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) through literacy activities, exploration, art, mathematics and music.

To kick off the exploration, students have been noticing the “Chasing Arrows," the symbol for recycling, on various items in the classroom and have read several books on this topic.

In addition, they attended a presentation from Mallory Eschbach of the St. Louis County Health Department. “My hope is to empower these learners to help take care of our Earth,” said Lisa Feeney.
